In order to fulfil Assessment Objectives 2, 3 and 4 I researched Music Magazines in order to identify their generic characteristics.
  • The masthead at the top says "Contents", telling the reader which page they are looking at.
  • Next to it in the left pug is a small letter from the editor concerning the front cover. This draws the readers attention to what the editor has to say as it is in the top left hand pug. Furthermore, the editor's letter is informal and peer-to-peer. This is used as it makes the reader be able to relate to the editor as if friends.
  • The list of contents have small subheadings in a different colour and font. This shows the reader which sections are which at a glance.
  • One article on the page is larger than the rest. This shows it is more important and must be seen more than the others to ensure the readers see it.
  • The quote near the masthead is from a band member from Slipknot, who are also on the front cover. This anchors them with the story and makes you want to read on as you wonder what they are talking about.
  • One article window has "Live special" printed over it. This helps bring attention to this particular article above the other articles in the page. This is done again with another article having "WIN" posted over it, which helps bring reader's attention to it.
  • In one particular article, it says "Ville Valo solves your chrismas dilemmas". This is used as it helps the readers feel more involved with the members of the band and the singer as it establishes a more personal link between them as he is solving your problems.
