In order to fulfil Assessment Objectives 2, 3 and 4 I researched Music Magazines in order to identify their generic characteristics.
- Bright, bold colours used in main headline and masthead. Draws the attention of reader to the article headlines.
- Only yellow, red and white are used for the front cover. These colours are used as they are also the well known colours of NME.
- Pictures of content bands at the top of the cover. Shows importance, and shows people who are considering buying it a brief contents of what bands are inside.
- Pictures are not straight, aimed at youth. Makes it seem trendy.
- Main article "NEW ALBUMS '09" in bold and surrounded by bright colours. Draws attention, shows importance. Parent-to-child. Tells the reader.
- Main picture of Kasabian. Anchors with article headline at the bottom of the page which talks about Kasabian. The Main article of New Albums could also reference to the picture, saying they are one of the top albums subliminally?
- Kasabian's quote "We've been on a psychedelic trip." Doesn't answer questions and makes readers want to know. Anchors with their tired, watered down experessions on the cover picture.
- "In their San-Fran studio." Informal. Peer-to-peer language. Informally cuts "San-Fancisco" into "San-Fran".
- "RIP Stooges Legend. Iggy pays tribute to Ron Asheton." Older celebrities. Markets to older readers as well as young readers. Broadens target audience to max sales figures.
